Legible labelling, clear operation and a mounting height every resident can reach.
In assisted living the door station is, for many residents, the only contact with the door. It has to work without explanation — seated, with limited sight, and without patience for a menu.
That is planned through the design rather than through features: large, light labelling on a dark ground, call buttons with a definite action and audible feedback, an operating zone reachable from a seated position.
Indoors a monitor with a few large buttons is usually enough. Where relatives are to be included, the app is added without changing anything about operation inside the flat.
